This is just a side project blog that we'd like to dedicate to our nail art and the addiction that we have for polishes

Carlin and Alex own this blog together so there can be double the nail awesomeness

Emily de Molly Black Forest, 3 coats plus top coat
This is a perfect black jelly with forest green glitter.  I feel the squishy layers and the green glitter are so complex, it makes the polish look black with a deep green glow.  I honestly had people stopping me to look at my nails (cashiers, friends, coworkers!).  It applied well - I apologize to the polish and to EdM for the embarrasing tip shrinkage, that is completely my fault!

Emily de Molly Harmony, 3 coats plus top coat
This is a beautiful, “subtle with something extra”, polish!  It applied very well; perfect at 3 coats, and there was no glitter manipulation required.  It looked good at 2 coats, but the 3rd gave a beautiful depth that I have found so special to the 3 EdM polishes I have tried :)

Julep Lucky, 1 coat, over Zoya Apple, 1 coat

I was very fortunate to have such a bright setting sun after work one day to take these photos…  It really brought out the glow of both Lucky and Apple!  Both are beautiful greens, Lucky has really pretty gold glitters that adds to the glow of this green polish.

Lucky could be worn alone in 2-3 coats, however I found it a little thick so I layered 1 coat over Apple (a pretty perfect base, in my opinion).  Although thick, Lucky applied very well, and was relatively smooth with 1 coat of top coat.  I have trouble taking photos with Julep bottles, so I included a bonus third photo that I thought looked neat :)

Illamasqua Jo’Mina. I wanted this for like a year after I first saw it and I finally bought it when I went to Sydney for a job interview. This is my first time using it. Not disappointed!

L’Oreal - Royally Yours - P.O.T.W.

Robins egg blue heaven! This gorgeous creme pastel is l soft in color but still so luminous. 2 - 3 coats of this polish for complete coverage (only 2 pictured above), goes on even an dries fairly quick. “Ignore the jaundice looking skin , for some reason blue does this to me! :)

Stay tuned for the 4 designs featuring this polish, and to check out other featured polishes visit the P.O.T.W. page.

Pahlish Little Caroline, 2 coats plus top coat

Little Caroline applied well; it was a little thick because of all the glitter, but that’s to be expected!  I was surprised to find it perfectly vibrant, sparkley, and squishy at only 2 coats!

WET N WILD MEGALAST- ON A TRIP - P.O.T.W.

Kind of a mix between a creme and a jelly and only 3 coats of this yummy purple to get a complete mani using the wide brush. In bright sunlight this polish appears warmer than pictured, otherwise it has a slightly bluish tint.

Stay tuned for the 4 designs featuring this color! You can also check out other Polish of The Weeks by visiting the P.O.T.W. page.

Essie Neon Collection 2013: Swatches and Review

Hi everyone! I have a full review of the new Essie Neon Collection. I have some mixed feelings about this collection - there are some great things going on here, but also some issues with the polishes - so if you’re thinking about any of these check out my blog post. Link to my review can be found HERE.

Polished pictured (top - bottom, left - right):

  • Boom Boom Room
  • Bottle Service (very difficult to capture the colour on this accurately, it’s slightly darker and more of a cool-toned magenta in real life)
  • Bouncer It’s Me
  • DJ Play That Song
  • Saturday Disco Fever
  • Shake Your $$ Maker
